![]() I'm pretty disappointed that they removed the ability to install apps to SD cards. I remember there used to be an option in the Application Settings page to move an app to SD card, but I checked on my phone and it looks like that option was removed a few versions ago. I went digging around in the Google Play settings and I couldn't find an option to set a default place to install apps. I've been looking at a few apps that advertise being able to move apps onto an SD card, but each I've tried requires root. This video in particular should be helpful for moving both files and apps to your SD card. Here's a list of YouTube videos that explain how to do this. This can be done by long pressing the folder/file name, selecting "move" from the options, and then navigating to the SD card and selecting "paste". that you don't want to delete, but don't want on your internal storage, you can use the file manager to move them. If there is a large group of music, pictures, etc. Once you have that installed you can look in your Downloads, Music, and DCIM (pictures) folders and see if there are any large files that you can delete. I'd recommend getting a file manager from the play store to see what is taking up so much space on your internal storage. The two solutions are to either migrate some of the data (photos, music, downloads, etc.) from your internal storage to your SD card, or move apps from your internal storage to SD card. That's just how Android works.Hi! This sometimes happens to me on my own phone. ![]() BUT the main app portion will ALWAYS reside in internal memory. Some allow a portion of the app to be moved, some allow extra assets (music, images, etc.), some game saves, etc. In your case, the SD card will work to save external downloads and media files, but I strongly suggest you avoid saving files you haven't backed up elsewhere (don't save camera pictures to SD card.just read the myriad of posts in these forums with cards going bad and people who didn't back up lost their precious moments).Īs for apps, it's up to each dev to decide what, if any, can be saved to SD cards. Your device doesn't support 'Adoptable Storage' (which is what Android needs now to make the device 'adopt' the SD card into the main memory, which also involves encrypting the card and locking it to that specific device).Īndroid hasn't offered this functionality past Marshmallow, because it was a shit show, slowing the devices to a crawl even when using fast SD cards.
